Hi, I'm Pam Porter, artist, teacher, and certified creativity coach. My parents taught at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale, Colorado in the 1960s. I was incredibly lucky to grow up in a community where creativity was central to our lives. When I was five, my mom gave my sisters and me an art table, sparking a lifelong passion for all of us. Every day after school, we’d rush home to see what we could create next. That early love of art led me to earn a master’s degree in Art Education, and teaching for many years. In addition to teaching art, I’m dedicated to my own art practice, exploring printmaking and watercolor, and sharing my journey with others. I love incorporating my life-coaching skills into my work and helping people tap into their own innate creativity.
After many years away, I moved back to Carbondale in 2013 with my husband. I teach art to all ages from my beautiful studio at the Third Street Center and other venues. Growing up along the Crystal River and spending summers at our family place on Lake Michigan sparked my lifelong love of water, which continues to inspire my work. I create vibrant watercolors and monoprints. I find joy in the flow of creating art—trusting my instincts and having fun—resulting in wonderful finished pieces. Being in the creative flow is the best place to be, and I love sharing it with others through my work.
