About Pam
Picture
I’m an artist based in Carbondale, Colorado, where I grew up. I also teach a small number of workshops centered on creative flow and intuitive process.
My parents were teachers at Colorado Rocky Mountain School in the 1960s, and I was immersed early in a world that valued creativity, curiosity, and learning.
I first fell in love with printmaking at age seven, when my dad taught me how to carve and print linoleum blocks—a spark that has stayed with me ever since. In 1970, my family moved to Santa Fe, where the art scene, expansive sky, and sense of color deeply shaped how I see and make art. Summers on Lake Michigan added another layer—water, light, and a feeling of freedom that continues to find its way into my work.
For many years, I worked closely with children, running art studios in Boulder and later in Carbondale after returning here in 2013. That experience shaped how I approach both art and teaching—grounded in play, experimentation, and following curiosity.
Much of my work is rooted in Gelli-Block Printing—a blend of loose, layered backgrounds and bold linoleum imagery that creates vibrant, dynamic prints. I also work with Clay Printing, a process that transforms textured ceramic slabs into richly colored monoprints. Both invite intuition, experimentation, and discovery.
At the heart of it all is a simple idea: making art can be a place to explore—where the process matters as much as the final piece, and what emerges feels personal and alive.
