Welcome to the studio!

I’m Pam Porter — artist, teacher, and certified creativity coach. I was raised in a family where creativity was extremely important. In the 1960s, my parents taught at Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale, and in the 1970s we moved to Santa Fe. When I was five, my mom gave my sisters and me an art table—a simple gift that sparked a lifelong love of making things. That early passion led me to earn a master’s degree in Art Education and spend many years teaching.
After many years away, I returned to Carbondale in 2013 with my husband. I teach art to all ages from my beautiful studio at the Third Street Center, as well as at other venues around the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. Growing up along the Crystal River and spending summers on Lake Michigan sparked a lifelong love of water, which continues to inspire my work. I create vibrant watercolors and monoprints and find joy in trusting the process, following my instincts, and simply having fun.

Starting in fall 2025, I’ll be offering a growing lineup of adult workshops—playful, process-based classes designed to spark inspiration and confidence. While I’ll still offer occasional kids’ camps and festive holiday pop-ups, my focus is shifting more toward helping adults reconnect with their creativity. My teaching is rooted in the Creative Flow philosophy: a relaxed, exploratory approach that values process over perfection and encourages curiosity, self-expression, and joy. Being in the creative flow is the best place to be—and I love sharing it with others through my work.
