What is Gelli-Block Printing?
Gelli-Block Printing is a hybrid process that Pam developed as a creative and simple way to add color and texture to linoleum block prints. This technique blends two approaches: colorful monoprints made on a soft gel plate, and carved linoleum blocks printed over them. Using the Gelli-plate, artists roll on paint, use stencils, and layer colors to create rich textures and blended backgrounds. Once dry, black ink is rolled onto the carved linoleum blocks, and the designs are printed directly on top of the Gelli-prints. The result is a striking combination of loose color with crisp, graphic imagery—each piece bold, vibrant, and one-of-a-kind.
