I have ALWAYS LOVED pumpkins. Always! I love the color, the smell when I'm carving out their insides for Halloween, their heft, how cool they feel. I find them so reliable, substantial and comforting. Like a great friend!
And, my mother's name for me when I was a child was Pumpkin and I always loved that- it made me feel special. Here I am at age 7 carving a pumpkin at our home in Carbondale, Colorado! I had tons of freckles and my hair was orangish- sort of like a pumpkin!
